Dairy farm Caresto, Gubbio

On a hill in front of the castle of Giomici and the castle of Biscina, stands the small rural village of the 18th century, just 5 km from the villages of Casacastalda and Carbonesca in the municipality of Gubbio
which has been the subject of a skilful intervention since 2002 of conservative restoration completed in 2009 by the current owners who created a charming organic farmhouse with 4 comfortable rooms created in one of the farmhouses, which in the 1950s was a school for around thirty children. The recovery work was carried out respecting tradition with the intervention of local artisans, using the same materials and respecting bio-architecture.
The Bio Farmhouse was born within the 21-hectare organic farm of which 14 are forest, 6 are arable land and 1 is olive grove. The company offers its own production of extra virgin olive oil, cereals, jams, vegetables and seasonal fruit.
The expanse of meadows alternate with dense woods. The view is enchanting, intact. You travel through valleys and declines. In an up and down path, you reach Caresto, where your gaze extends far away, embracing the entire horizon. Nestled on top of a hill, the village tells a distant story. Ancient farmhouse dating back to 1768, through various vicissitudes it has passed through the centuries until 2002 when the current owners took over the now abandoned company. The total surface area of the village is approximately 500 m2, of which 150 m2 is still in use. renovation phase, where 2 further apartments can be created, one of 60 m2 and the other of 80 m2.
