The decision not to use the church any more was taken in 1581 by the car. Borromeo, following the completion by the Venetian government of the demolition of the walls and filling the graves that protected the new citadel from the old, so 'was finally abandoned. In the 16th century it was restored by a confraternity that used it up to the most recent restorations.
