Storia Sabaudia

Sabaudia is located in the Pontine Marshes, a vast plain to the south of Rome; a Marsh time and object, over the centuries, numerous attempts to reclaim even by Roman emperors. The April 21, 1933 a competition is announced for the construction of the city of Sabaudia, won by four architects: Gino Cancellotti, Eugenio Montuori, Luigi and Alfredo Piccinato chisels, all members of the Italian Movement for Rational Architecture (MIAR). On August 5, 1933, the place chosen by Valentino Ursu Cencelli Commissioner of the National Opera for fighters, is the foundation stone of the city in which it is given, in fact, the name of SABAUDIA in honor of the House of Savoy, the reigning dynasty. April 15, 1934, after 253 days, the city was inaugurated by King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena of Montenegro. From that day Sabaudia, thanks to the building's structure and its scenic beauty, is a major tourist center and a popular seaside resort.
