Arona is one of the major commercial and tourist centers of Lake Maggiore, certainly the largest of the lower lake. With its approx. 15,000 inhabitants, is the most populous city on the lake, again if we consider separately the different centers that only since 1939 have been united to form Verbania (whose conglomerate gathers about 30,000 people, including Intra, Pallanza, Suna and other hamlets).
