The history
Designed after the mid-70s, it was built by the Italcantieri company of the Edilnord group (which later became Cantieri Riuniti Milanesi) between 1980 and 1991 based on the experience of the previous construction of Milan 2 and in the wake of a need that had manifested itself throughout Europe in those years: to escape the unhealthy and suffocating congestion of overcrowded urban centers without, however, moving too far from the nerve centers of production activities.
The original layout of the park, already in the initial stage, was designed for selected species of trees, shrubs and trees, with the criterion of obtaining, over the years, a real garden city.
Towards the end of the last century, significant changes in the ownership structure led to the adoption of more modern administrative and organizational criteria and highlighted the need to adapt the homes to modern criteria of sustainability, energy efficiency and land management.
Today Milano 3 is immersed in the greenery of a thirty-year-old park, rich in precious essences, an ecological oasis in which both the tree heritage and the service areas and road networks enjoy careful maintenance and offer a comfortable and, thanks to the supervisory body, safe environment.
Throughout the territory and in the Residences, redevelopment works are underway or being studied to adapt the housing units to the most advanced energy efficiency standards.

The Residences
In the supercondominium complex Milano 3 there are approximately 3300 apartments, divided into two main types of construction:
76 seven-storey buildings (arranged on the ground in a leaf or terraced pattern), grouped into 33 residences with an average of 80 or 120 apartments each, which total over 3200 apartments
105 single-family villas on three floors, gathered in six residences, located in the outer band.

Over to the use of private cars, prevalent and facilitated in Milano 3 by the numerous and orderly parking lots, which guarantee functionality and time saving, and to the local taxi service, connections are ensured by:

Internal and short-range connections:
Call bus (established by the Municipality of Basiglio), which, on call and by appointment, transports residents to all the surrounding areas (old Basiglio, Humanitas hospital, etc.) and to the metro stops or tram to Milan.

Connections with the city of Milan:

Bus line with intermediate stops from the centre of Basiglio and throughout the perimeter of Milano 3 to Milan (terminus stop of the green line metro in Piazza Agrippa)
