TRICASE is a small town on the Capo di Leuca that, according to some studies, owes its name to the union of three different farmhouses that, when joined together, gave rise to a single residential nucleus. It is one of the most characteristic villages of the Lower Salento, whose central square is dominated by the bulk of the Gallone palace, a 14th-century dwelling that has been adapted over the centuries into a sumptuous residence and currently houses the town hall. Its territory extends into the hamlets of Lucugnano and Depressa, and the marinas of Marina Serra and Tricase Porto.  Since 2006, part of its territory also falls within the Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca Regional Natural Park.
The Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca - Bosco di Tricase Regional Natural Park is the largest of all the parks in the Salento area. It includes the numerous coastal caves, including Grotta Zinzulusa, the most important, as well as nature trails, such as the Vie del Sale (Salt Paths) from Novaglie to Corsano, the Sentiero delle Cipolliane (Cipolliane Path) and the Sentiero del Ciolo (Ciolo Path).
