The Romans settled there in Versilia in the 2nd century BC, following the subjugation of the Ligurians and between Querceta (Seravezza) and Vaiana, they built the road called "delle Mordure", which represented one of the axes of Roman centuration.
In 1515 the marble quarries of Versilia they were donated to the Medici who built the road to bring the blocks to the sea and in the 17th century implemented the diversion of the Versilia river to bring the floods into the swamp of Lake Porta a Montignoso.
Strettoia, which is part of the "historic Versilia" is linked in Pietrasanta and its Marina since the 12th century.
