Zogno is an Italian town of 8,801 inhabitants (2) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy. The municipality is located in the lower Brembana Valley on a slope between the eastern slope of Monte Zucco (1232 m a.s.l.)a bend in the Brembo river, about 10 kilometers as the crow flies north of the Orobic capital. The town is part of the Mountain Community of the Brembana Valley.
It is about 18 kilometers Bergamoabout 70 kilometers Milan.
Located in the lower portion of the Brembana Valley not far San Pellegrino Terme (4 km), the capital extends along the valley road, on the right orographic bank of the Brembo river, while the other inhabited centers are mainly located on the left bank.
Among the hamlets, Stabello stands out, a village of about 450 inhabitants located south-east of Zogno on the left side of the valley at about 380 m asl: the etymology dates back to Roman times when the legions encamped in the Lemine area led to graze the horses on the plain of the town built stables (stabellum) hence the name Stabello. The vernacular poet Pietro Ruggeri comes this small village, initially inhabited by shepherdsfarmers, who added the word da Stabello to his name in order to remember his origins.

In a small left side valley there are Poscante (400 m a.s.l.) and, just above, Grumello de 'Zanchi (410 m above sea level), both of considerable size. Still on the left, on a slope, there are Endenna (the largest hamlet, at an altitude of 420 m), Somendenna (670 m), Miragolo San Marco (960 m)Miragolo San Salvatore (970 m). Proceeding Zogno towards San Pellegrino Terme, we come to Ambria, a rather large hamlet located at the entrance to the Val Serina. Above Ambria, on the left side, there is Spino al Brembo (470 m a.s.l.).
