13 small villages make up the municipality of Gargnano. They extend across the mountain among palm trees, cedars, lemon trees and greenhouses. The prosperous capital of Gargnano, with its winding alleys and colorful houses, is located directly on the lake. It has a small idyllic port, a pretty lakeside promenade and is surrounded by magnificent villas, palaces and parks.
The tourist boom has passed through Gargnano, but in recent years the town has increasingly become a meeting place for young visitors. There are very cozy restaurants and fun pubs and surfers also love to come here, because the wind is ideal for beginners. Gargnano is also an excellent base for excursions to the mountains of the Alto Garda Bresciano National Park. To the south of the capital, again directly on the lake, is the village of Bogliaco. Here is Palazzo Bettoni, the largest palace on the lake. The few houses in the town are grouped around the beautiful port basin, where the Centomiglia, the most famous sailing regatta on Lake Garda, takes place every year in September.
