Via d’Azeglio is the "city's parlor" of Bologna. The ancient name of the road, from Porta San Mamolo to the intersection between via de' Carbonesi and Luigi Farini, was San Mamolo, while the other part towards Piazza Maggiore was called “via dicta Platea Major”, or simply “Platea Major”.
