Baglio Località Cave di Cusa, Campobello di Mazara

In Contrada Cave di Cusa, in the most evocative natural factory of building materials from the Greek era, we offer an ancient 16th century Baglio surrounded by approximately 1 hectare of land. The Cave di Cusa archaeological site belongs to the territory of Campobello di Mazara, province of Trapani, and this area, rich in thousand-year history, is located in a flat area full of vineyards and olive groves that reach up to the coast. In just under 20 minutes it is possible to reach the famous beaches of Tre Fontane and Triscina, as well as the ancient ruins of the city of Selinunte, the largest archaeological park in Europe.

The "Baglio Ingham" takes its name from Benjamin Ingham, English cleric and entrepreneur who founded the Ingham & C. Commercial Company in Palermo in 1812, initially dealing with the sale of English fabrics and, subsequently, undertaking the profitable production and marketing of wines such as Marsala.
Divided into two large areas with entrance through a shared wooden door, the relevant area is characterized by a 160 m2 courtyard which gives access to the internal spaces. The structure presents its original features on the left side of the courtyard consisting of two large internal areas; the front part of the courtyard, in a good state of maintenance, is made up of a building on two levels. On the ground floor it is accessed from the living room and there are two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom; with an internal staircase, enhanced by a wrought iron railing, you reach the first floor characterized by a bathroom and three bedrooms, two of which with en-suite bathrooms.

From the terrace above, of approximately 30 m2, you can admire the entire territory surrounding the baglio, thus enhancing the panorama. On the right side of the courtyard there is a 30 m2 kitchen which is accessed via a glass window and an ancient living room of about 50 m2 with 6 meter high roofs; this area is characterized by a tuff and stone arch from the construction period and a fireplace.

There is a cellar floor, which is accessed through a stone passage, consisting of two rooms, one of which is known as the "Scirocco Room" since the entrepreneur Ingham once stayed in this room on sirocco days .

The external part, served by a spring water well from the Norman era, is enhanced by 180 olive trees and fruit trees such as lemons, oranges, medlars, figs and almonds and there is a functional lighting system that creates plays of light and shadow, making the atmosphere suggestive and elegant.
