Petrosino is a recently built coastal municipality, created on territories previously belonging to Marsala and Mazara del Vallo.
The name derives from the Sicilian “Pitrusinu” which means parsley.
The village of Petrosino was founded in 1632 thanks to the Englishman John Woodhouse (creator of Marsala, a wine famous throughout the world), with the construction of a baglio whose portal became the town's coat of arms.
Petrosino is characterized by a splendid sea, populated by numerous marine species.
