Campovico does not appear among the 78 municipalities of the Province of Sondrio, because in 1938 it was aggregated to the municipality of Morbegno. Nonetheless, its history is illustrious and its origins ancient, being mentioned already in a document from 1041. In the Middle Ages it belonged, together with Buglio, Forcola, Talamona, Morbegno, Albaredo, Bema, Civo and Dazio, to the parish church of Ardenno and, from the 14th century, to the lower district of Valtellina.
